Belly to Baby Program

Caring. Preparing. Restoring.

As a mom to three boys, I understand the highs and the lows that can encompass pregnancy and postpartum, and I have a passion for helping moms to feel cared for throughout their journey. The Belly to Baby Program was created to allow our practitioners to come alongside mothers and alleviate some of the unknowns surrounding birth and the first precious weeks with baby.

Our Belly to Baby sessions are offered in-home or in-clinic depending on what best suits your family’s needs. This program was designed to include two sessions - one prenatal and one postpartum. Sessions include education of gentle self-mobilization and stabilization techniques aimed at first opening the pelvis prior to birth and then closing it back down following birth. Baby is also assessed at the postpartum session for patterns of tension that can affect freedom of movement needed for important activities such as breastfeeding and play.

Sessions Offered

PRENATAL
  • Holistic, whole-body approach
  • Identification of tension patterns that may be a hindrance in birth
  • Self-mobilization techniques
  • Gentle exercises + breath work
  • Aimed at preparing abdomen and pelvis for baby’s arrival
POSTPARTUM
  • Assessment of postural changes following birth
  • Education of proper exercise progression
  • DRA management
  • C-section scar management
  • Aimed at restoring pelvic alignment and muscular integrity
INFANT SCREEN
  • Baby assessed for tension patterns during breastfeeding, in carrier, and at play
  • Included with the postpartum session at no cost
  • Should baby display a need for physical therapy care, a referral to a pediatric therapist will be made

FAQs

Q: When during pregnancy should I start this program?
A: The prenatal portion of this program is designed for mothers who are 32 weeks pregnant and beyond. However, if you are experiencing challenging symptoms in your pregnancy, do not hesitate to reach out and one of our practitioners will happily determine if a thorough physical therapy evaluation is a better fit for you!

Q: When should I start this program after birth?
A: The postpartum portion of the program is designed for anytime 2-6 weeks after birth, though that is not a hard and fast rule. We will gladly honor this session up to one year post-birth.

Q: Do I have to be seen prior to birth to utilize this program?
A: Not at all! We encourage use of one of the sessions prior to birth, but you can utilize both of your sessions after birth if you choose to do so.

Q: How long does a session last?
A: The prenatal and postpartum sessions last 75 minutes each.

Q: Does this program ensure that I will have the birth I desire?
A: Though we wish we had a magic wand to wave over birth, that is sadly not the case. This program is designed to allow your body the best chance for your pelvic floor to be open and relaxed prior to birth, but every birth is different and every body reacts differently during birth.

Q: Do I need a doctor's referral?
A: You do not as this program is designed as a wellness-based program and does not meet the criteria for a physical therapy plan of care.

Q: Is this covered by insurance?
A: This program is a cash-based, wellness directive aimed at educating moms in the prenatal and postpartum stages, so it is not covered by insurance. However, we do offer cash-based physical therapy services that are covered by your out-of-network benefits should you need more extensive care than this program offers.

Q: How does this program differ from physical therapy?
A: I believe pregnancy, birth, and postpartum are wonderful parts of life and should not be viewed as dysfunctions. There are many natural changes that happen during pregnancy and early postpartum. My goal is to come alongside moms during these periods and educate them on how to handle these changes, prepare for labor, and allow their bodies to heal post-birth. That is what this program is all about! Sometimes, though, issues arise during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum that warrant a more extensive, hands-on approach. This is where physical therapy can be incredibly helpful. If you are on the fence about if this program is a good fit for you or if you would better benefit from a physical therapy plan of care, please give us a call at (512) 843-2043.

Q: How far do you travel for in-home care?
A: I will happily travel up to a 30-minute radius from Georgetown, TX.

Q: Can I gift this program to a friend?
A: Absolutely! This program came about because I gifted several friends this program for their baby shower gifts.

Client Testimonials

"When I was pregnant with my first baby, I was quite nervous but Shayli showed me how to prepare my pelvic floor for birth. Although I ended up having to get an unplanned C-section due to placenta previa, I feel so empowered by the knowledge and tools I gained through working with Shayli. She even supplied me with tools to help repair my C-section scar postpartum. I would definitely recommend working with Shayli to feel confident and ready for childbirth." - Kari, Georgetown, TX
